Death of a loved one: Prevalence, risk, and protective factors for prolonged grief disorder
Bereavement is highly prevalent among older adults, a rapidly growing demographic of the US population that is projected to double by 2050. Estimates suggest that 3%- 10% of bereaved adults experience clinically significant levels of prolonged grief disorder (PGD), with older adults at higher risk.
