Expanding access to colorectal cancer screening through community pharmacies: The PharmFIT study
Project Abstract (Summary) Medically underserved populations are disproportionately affected by screen-preventable cancers, such as colorectal cancer (CRC). Entities such as the United States Preventive Services Task Force and the American Cancer Society recommend fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) as an effective home-based method for CRC screening. Annual FIT, when followed by a diagnostic colonoscopy for a positive result, can reduce CRC mortality on a population level. CRC screening is traditionally delivered as part of a medical visit.
