How has the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education impacted students’ emotions and well-being in the learning processes? We’ve seen rapid growth in AI research, but critical gaps remain in understanding the affective consequences of such technology-mediated learning experiences. The AI-EMOTION project uncovers the AI’s potential and pitfalls that extend beyond cognitive outcomes, investigating what kinds of academic emotions modern learning technologies evoke in students, what types of usage are associated with different emotions, and what are the processes and mechanisms that produce these emotional responses.
