Gravitational Lensing of Waves
Gravitational lensing provides invaluable insight into astrophysics, cosmology, and fundamental physics. Now, a new frontier is open thanks to observational breakthroughs in gravitational waves (GWs) and fast radio bursts (FRBs). Like visible light, these signals are deflected and magnified by gravitational fields, but their phase coherence exposes wave-optics lensing phenomena: wavefront distortions that can help us identify very distant sources and characterize the intervening matter distribution.
