Chaperone action - a thermodynamic view
The goal of the proposed study is to obtain a fundamental understanding of the molecular mechanism and thermodynamics of chaperone action. Chaperones are critical components of all organisms and serve to ensure a healthy state of the proteome. The proposal concerns a class of chaperones that increases the solubility of client proteins. The activity of these chaperones exhibits a number of crucial but poorly understood features; for instance, there is a remarkable specificity in action combined with promiscuous recognition across sequence space.
