Dendritic encoding of movement in space

Understanding the neuronal basis of behaviour is a central quest for neuroscience. Neurons are the fundamental units of computation in the brain. Thus, any attempt at unravelling the relationship of neural networks activity and behaviour must be based on an understanding of the transformation of inputs to outputs in single neurons. One of the greatest challenges that our field faces is to make sense of inputs. Without knowing how different synaptic inputs are engaged during behaviour, it is impossible to decode the neuronal input to output conversion.
