About RateMyBioLab

RateMyBioLab is a worldwide, anonymous review platform for biology research labs. It is for graduate students, postdocs, technicians, undergraduates, and visiting scholars to share their first-hand experience with prospective lab members.

We seed lab listings from two public funders: the NIH RePORTER database (US, R01-funded labs) and the European Research Council (Starting / Consolidator / Advanced Grants). The map shows ~16,000 labs across the US and Europe at launch.

How reviews work

• An account is required to submit a review (email + password).
• Reviews are fully anonymous to other users — no handle, no initials, no author info appears alongside a review.
• Reviews must be opinion-based and concern the lab as an organizational unit. We do not allow naming individual lab members.
• One review per user per lab; you can edit it anytime.
